Other Therapeutic Approaches

Other modalities Lauren draws on based on clients’ needs.

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)

    • A structured, evidence-based approach that helps clients understand the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in the context of traumatic experience.

    • TF-CBT supports clients in challenging unhelpful beliefs formed as a result of trauma and developing healthier patterns of thinking and responding.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

    • IFS understands the mind as made up of distinct parts, each with its own perspective, feelings, and role.

    • Many of these parts develop in response to trauma or difficult early experiences, taking on protective or coping functions that can become limiting in adult life.

    • IFS helps clients develop a compassionate relationship with all parts of themselves, facilitating deep and lasting healing.

  • Attachment-focused EMDR

    • An adaptation of standard EMDR that specifically targets the wounds created by early relational trauma: insecure attachment, neglect, emotional unavailability, or abuse by caregivers.

    • Particularly effective for adults whose trauma is rooted in early childhood relationships.

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, ‘Tapping’)

    • EFT combines elements of cognitive therapy, exposure, and acupressure, tapping on specific pressure points on the body while focusing on a distressing thought, feeling, or memory.

    • It works to calm the body's stress response and reduce the emotional charge associated with difficult experiences.

    • Research supports EFT's effectiveness for anxiety, trauma, and PTSD.

  • Mindfulness & Somatic Awareness

    • Trauma lives in the body as much as the mind.

    • Lauren incorporates mindfulness and somatic (body-based) awareness practices to help clients develop a kinder, more attuned relationship with their physical experience, building the capacity to tolerate and regulate difficult sensations and emotions.

  • Personal Coaching

    • Alongside her psychological practice, Lauren is a qualified Life Coach.

    • Coaching is available as a standalone service for clients who are not seeking clinical treatment, but who want structured support to clarify their goals, build confidence, and move forward.

    • Coaching sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates.
